6 Questions to Ask Your Stylist Before a Color Change

9 Aug

Sometimes our biggest fears can create the most exciting changes, and for most women, a change of hair color can be dramatic and scary. Rebecca Friedman, celebrity colorist expert at Goodform Salon in Hollywood (Kim Kardashian’s exclusive colorist) gave us her tips on the best questions to ask your stylist before you color, and how to find the right tone for your hair’s texture.

1. What is a realistic level of lightness for me to achieve given my current hair color?

2. I’ve had previous chemical treatments on my hair; will this effect how light I can go?

3. What tones will best suit my complexion?

4. Will the texture of my hair change after I lighten it?

5. How often will I have to come it for touch ups?

6. Do styling products for color treated hair really work?

Become a Bronzing Beauty with Borghese

9 Aug

I went to the beach last week, sunblock in tow, hoping to leave with a perfect tan.  I was going for a warm, sun-kissed hue that will pop against my ivory wedding dress. Well, I got a hue alright, but not one that I was hoping to get. My spray on sunscreen missed a few spots and now my fiancé calls me blotchy. Not a good way to enter a marriage but a great reminder to stay out of the sun.

According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, over 2 million cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the US annually. A logical conclusion has to be made here —  when it comes to tanned skin, faux is really the only way to go!

Luckily Borghese has a wide range of essentials to turn us from bland to bronzed without the harmful UV rays!

Here are my favorite picks:

For my face, I used the Milano Multi-Bronzer to add a dimension of warmth to my skin tone. The result was a luminous hue that looked very natural. The bronzer comes with a small, retractable brush that’s great for touch ups.

On my body, I used the Splendore Brightening Body Glow – a lightweight shimmery lotion that produced an über luminous glow. I like the added benefits of ingredients such as Vitamins A and E to help moisturizes and condition my skin.

Visit Borghese.com to check out their full line of products.

Beauty Review: Systeme 41 Rejuvenating Masque

17 May

I’ve read enough advice to know that no matter your age, it’s never too early to use anti-aging treatments.

That’s why I was excited to review a product from the Système 41 line, which promises to help repair and restore younger looking skin.

The Rejuvenating Masque sample I received worked great as both a scrub and a mask and felt fresh and absorbent on my skin. The masque smelled aromatic but not fragrant, reassuring me that the ingredients are 100% natural. This is important as I have very sensitive skin.

Bristol Palin Lost a Ton of Weight

6 May

Bristol Palin looked smokin’ hot at the Candie’s Foundation National Teen Pregnancy Prevention gala. While the media is speculating that she’s gotten plastic surgery to achieve a more chiseled look, we think that it’s all due to weight-loss. We’d love to hear more about the transformation from Bristol herself. Maybe she can share her secrets in an upcoming cover story of Self magaine?

25 Fittest Male Celebs

23 Apr

According to Men’s Fitness magazine, these guys are at the top of their game. And that hard work, drive, sweat and discipline is just a tiny part of what keeps them among the worlds fittest. Here are our top 3 favorites that made the list:

David Beckham, The Fit Footballer, 36

Last year Beckham tore his Achilles tendon but now he’s back to training as usual. Beckham’s workouts focus on his core and hips, doing a lot of resisted movement band work and single stability exercises.

Joe Manganiello, The Werewolf, 34

True Blood’s vamps pale in comparison to the 240 pound Manganiello who plays werewolf, Alcide. To stay in howlingly good shape, he eats several small meals a day and works out six days a week with an emphasis on staying cut and lean.

Joel McHale, The Wiseguy, 39

He’s either the funniest fit guy in Hollywood or the fittest funny guy. McHale bangs out hundreds of pushups a day, mostly in his trailer between takes. He avoids sugar and carbs whenever possible, snacks on almonds and hard-boiled eggs throughout the day, and has fish and veggies for dinner.
